PBBM SECURES $2.5B IN CANADIAN INVESTMENTS FOLLOWING HISTORIC VISIT

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. concluded his historic four-day official visit to Canada, arriving back at Villamor Air Base in Pasay City via Philippine Airlines flight PR001 on Sunday afternoon.

The trip, marking the first time a Philippine head of state has visited Canada in over a decade, resulted in a major diplomatic upgrade and substantial economic commitments.

Following a high-level meeting between President Marcos and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney in Vancouver, the two nations officially elevated their diplomatic ties to a strategic partnership.

This milestone was accompanied by the signing of four key agreements targeting labor and migration, tourism, energy and natural resources, and cultural cooperation. Additionally, both leaders committed to finalizing a free trade agreement by the end of the year.

The trip also yielded massive financial prospects, as a series of roundtable discussions with Canadian corporate executives generated approximately $2.5 billion in investment pledges aimed at expanding business operations within the Philippines.
