PBBM TRUSTS SON SANDRO’S JUDGMENT FOLLOWING HIS PARTY SWITCH TO LAKAS-CMD

MANILA, Philippines — Malacañang stated that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. trusts his son, House Majority Leader and Ilocos Norte 1st District Representative Sandro Marcos, is making the right choice following his recent political party shift.

The younger Marcos recently transitioned to the Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD), departing from the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP), which is chaired by his father.

He reportedly took his oath as a new member on Monday, October 12.

During a Palace briefing on Thursday, October 15, Communications Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro admitted she has not yet personally discussed the move with the President due to his packed schedule, but emphasized that the Chief Executive fully supports his children’s autonomy.

She reiterated that the President stands by his son’s decision-making capabilities.

Lakas-CMD is currently headed by its president, former House Speaker and Leyte 1st District Representative Martin Romualdez, who is facing a plunder complaint regarding alleged corruption in flood control projects.

Historically, the political party was also the home organization of former Presidents Fidel V. Ramos and Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
