PH AND CROATIA SIGN NEW AGREEMENT TO SECURE AND STREAMLINE OFW RECRUITMENT

MANILA — Filipino job seekers eyeing employment opportunities in Croatia can now look forward to a more secure recruitment process following a landmark agreement signed by the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and the Croatian Employment Service (CES).

Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac stated that the government-to-government (G2G) deal is designed to enhance bilateral coordination and ensure the robust protection of both current and prospective overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in the European nation.

“Croatia is getting one of our core strengths in our labor market, which is workers from the hospitality sector. They are top-notch and world-class, and we are proud to say that it is you,” Cacdac said.

The Implementing Guidelines for the Recruitment of Filipino Workers in Croatia were formally signed by Migrant Workers Undersecretary Jainal Rasul Jr. and CES Director General Ante Loncar.

According to Cacdac, the newly minted guidelines outline explicit recruitment standards, mandatory requirements, and the shared duties of both nations concerning worker welfare, compliance, and ongoing monitoring.

The bilateral framework aims to shield applicants from predatory recruitment practices by streamlining pathways through official government channels.

Meanwhile, Croatian Ambassador to the Philippines Nebojša Koharović expressed confidence that Filipino workers will smoothly integrate into local Croatian communities, urging them to continue maintaining the stellar reputation of the country’s labor force abroad.
