PH, THAILAND TO BOLSTER TIES AGAINST TRANSNATIONAL CRIME

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul have pledged to intensify joint efforts against transnational crime following a bilateral meeting held on Saturday.

The high-level discussion took place immediately following the 48th ASEAN Summit, hosted by the Philippines in its capacity as the 2026 chair of the regional bloc.

According to the Presidential Communications Office (PCO), the leaders focused on a wide-ranging agenda designed to fortify the enduring partnership between the two Southeast Asian nations.

“The two leaders exchanged views on enhancing bilateral relations through high-level exchanges, trade and economic cooperation, people-to-people ties, and cooperation in combating transnational crimes,” the PCO stated.

Beyond security cooperation, the meeting served as a platform to reaffirm mutual dedication to regional stability.

Both leaders emphasized the importance of maintaining a united front within the association to address evolving global challenges.

The PCO noted that Marcos and Anutin discussed regional and global issues of shared concern, “reaffirming both nations’ commitment to ASEAN solidarity, regional peace, and stability.”
