MANILA — The Philippine National Police (PNP) has directed regional offices nationwide to complete their security preparations for the upcoming observance of Undas next month.
Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief PGen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. instructed all regional commanders on Monday, October 12, to finalize security deployments for the anticipated crowds visiting cemeteries and memorial parks for All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day.
Authorities plan to roll out comprehensive safety measures, including police assistance desks, foot patrols, and emergency response teams, to protect the public from petty crimes and assist families.
With Malacañang declaring November 1 and 2 as special non-working days, and major burial grounds like the Manila North Cemetery extending operating hours, security forces will maintain a round-the-clock presence.
“We will deploy police assistance desks, foot patrols, mobile teams, and emergency response units in and around cemeteries to ensure that help is always within reach of the public. We will maintain a strong and visible police presence in key areas so families can focus on honoring their loved ones with confidence and peace of mind,” Nartatez said.
Nartatez emphasized that maintaining public order is a top priority during this period of remembrance.
“Every Filipino should feel safe while observing Undas so we will remain vigilant against any threat to public safety and order,” he stated.
The PNP chief also appealed to the public to follow safety guidelines and collaborate closely with law enforcement officers deployed on the ground.
“As we honor the memory of our departed loved ones, let us also look after the safety of the living by remaining vigilant, following cemetery rules, and cooperating with authorities. The PNP will do its part to help ensure that every family can remember their loved ones in peace, dignity, and security,” Nartatez noted.
