The Philippine National Police (PNP) announced that it has not detected any verified severe threats directed at Vice President Sara Duterte or her family, noting that her office has not submitted any official complaints regarding such matters since 2023.
The statement was issued to clarify police posture after Duterte cited safety concerns upon arriving at the Quezon City Regional Trial Court to post bail for her grave threats charges.
“The PNP continues to monitor the situation. To date, however, the Vice President has not reported to the PNP any threat to her life or to the safety of her family, including the threats she said date back to 2023,” the PNP statement read.
“Likewise, the PNP has not monitored any verified threat against the Vice President or her family,” it added.
The law enforcement agency acknowledged Duterte’s prior public remarks expressing skepticism toward the police force. However, it noted that sufficient personnel were assigned to ensure her security during her appearance at the court following the issuance of her arrest warrant.
“She was able to safely arrive at and leave the court,” the statement read.
Reaffirming its commitment to open procedures, the PNP expressed its willingness to review any documented evidence, security reports, or formal affidavits the Vice President wishes to submit regarding her security concerns.
“We will allow the verification process to take its course and provide appropriate information once the facts have been established,” the PNP statement read.
