PNP MEETS FIVE-MINUTE RESPONSE TARGET FOR 96% OF UNIFIED 911 CALLS IN FIRST YEAR

The Philippine National Police (PNP) logged 86,614 incident calls through the country’s central emergency hotline during its inaugural year, achieving a response time under five minutes for roughly 96.4% of reported cases.

The operational data was shared on Saturday to mark the one-year anniversary of the Unified 911 system.

Launched on September 11, 2025, as a key initiative of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) led by Secretary Jonvic Remulla, the centralized hotline provides immediate access to emergency personnel nationwide and currently operates out of nine regional command centers.

Between August 1, 2025, and August 31, 2026, the hotline managed 494,338 total incoming calls. Out of these, 132,232 (26.74%) were categorized as genuine emergencies. The bulk of the remaining transmissions consisted of 223,253 prank calls and 138,853 inquiries classified under miscellaneous categories.

Total dispatch actions across all agencies included 80,247 general emergency dispatches, 36,995 medical requests, and 14,990 fire-related reports.

For police-specific matters, regional units responded to 96.38% of their 86,614 total assigned calls within the designated five-minute threshold, while 3,077 incidents surpassed the timeframe limit.

Disruptions to public order made up the largest volume of police interventions at 29,746 calls, followed by 21,615 traffic incidents and 15,517 general law enforcement matters. Additional police dispatches included:

  • Public Safety & Emergency Responses: 10,637 calls
  • Crimes Against Persons: 4,484 calls
  • Crimes Against Property: 3,690 calls

The system also recorded reports involving illegal gambling, illicit drugs, firearms, and violent offenses.
