The Philippine National Police (PNP) announced a significant 12% decrease in focus crimes across the country following the launch of intensified anti-criminality campaigns in high-risk zones.
Official data covering the period from April 6 to May 6 revealed that total focus crime incidents fell to 2,684, down from the 3,047 cases recorded in the previous month. This decline is largely attributed to the “Safer Cities” initiative, which bolstered police presence in urban centers.
Among the eight focus crimes, rape cases saw the most substantial reduction at 25.4%, followed closely by physical injuries at 24.3%. Homicide, murder, robbery, and theft also saw notable downward trends, while motor vehicle theft remained stable.
Beyond the decrease in incidents, the PNP reported an improvement in their investigative capabilities, with the Crime Solution Efficiency (CSE) rising to 68.19%.
The PNP maintains that these gains are a direct result of evidence-based investigations and the sustained commitment of personnel to community safety.
