PNP URGES PUBLIC TO USE UNIFIED 911 HOTLINE DURING DISASTERS

The Philippine National Police (PNP) called on the public to utilize the Unified 911 hotline for disaster and calamity response, highlighting its role in accelerating emergency assistance and enhancing safety.

PNP Chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. emphasized that the single hotline consolidates access to police, fire, medical, and rescue teams across the country.

“This hotline was not created solely to address crimes but also to respond to the needs of all our kababayan during natural calamities, including typhoons,” Nartatez said.

“Whether for preemptive evacuation, search and rescue operations, or other emergencies, this hotline is a lifeline for everybody,” he added.

Gen. Nartatez explained that immediate reporting allows emergency teams to mobilize faster, a vital factor during severe weather when response time is critical. Consequently, the PNP is ramping up efforts to boost public awareness about the service.

The hotline acts as a core component of national disaster preparedness, directly supporting local government units and partner emergency responders.

The PNP plans to keep strengthening its integration with the service to ensure quick, accessible emergency aid for all citizens.
