REVILLA CAMP AWAITS SANDIGANBAYAN RULING ON FLOOD PROJECT BAIL

The legal team of former senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. is anticipating the Sandiganbayan Third Division’s decision regarding his bail application for a malversation charge linked to a supposedly fictitious ₱92.8-million flood control project in Pandi, Bulacan.

The anti-graft court was anticipated to issue its verdict on Wednesday, May 6. However, Revilla’s defense counsel, Reody Anthony Balisi, clarified that they have yet to receive an official update from the court regarding the exact timing of the release.

“We just have to wait. We don’t know if it will come out today or tomorrow,” Balisi told reporters. “We hope for the best. We just pray, and we just wait.”

The Sandiganbayan previously indicated that a resolution could be handed down within 30 days following the conclusion of the bail hearings, which took place from April 6 to April 24.

“It’s the court’s discretion so we cannot question that, so again, hintay lang,” Balisi said.

In a separate development earlier that day, Sally Santos, the owner of SYMS Construction, testified before the Sandiganbayan Fourth Division regarding Revilla’s interconnected graft case.

Balisi noted that her statements align with the defense’s assertion that the former lawmaker has no ties to the alleged anomalies.

“We’ll take it as it is. As far as we’re concerned, we have been very consistent doon sa position namin na wala naman talagang link si Senator Bong and si Ms. Santos. As she had testified during the bail hearing, consistent naman yung testimony as regards to that,” Balisi said.

While Revilla secured temporary liberty for the graft charge last January by posting a ₱90,000 bond, he continues to be held at the Quezon City Jail pending the court’s decision on his bail petition for the non-bailable malversation case.
