ROBREDO REITERATES RETIREMENT FROM NATIONAL POLITICS

Former Vice President and current Naga City Mayor Leni Robredo has firmly shut the door on a potential return to national office, signaling her intent to conclude her political journey at the local level.

Despite a notable rise in recent pre-election surveys, Robredo emphasized her commitment to serving her constituents in Naga City.

During an online interview, she addressed her supporters in Bicolano, making it clear that her decision to pivot away from the national stage is final.

“𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗹 𝗻𝗮 𝗮𝗸𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘆𝗼𝗻. 𝗞𝗮𝘆𝗼 𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗮𝘆 𝗮𝘆𝗮𝘄 𝘀𝗮 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘆𝗼𝗻 𝗸𝗼… 𝗗𝗶𝘁𝗼 𝗻𝗮 𝗮𝗸𝗼 [𝘀𝗮 𝗡𝗮𝗴𝗮] 𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗿𝗲-𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗿𝗲.”

Robredo’s statement follows the latest OCTA Research survey, which saw her voter preference climb to 21 percent, placing her as a significant figure alongside Vice President Sara Duterte for the 2028 presidential race.

Beyond her personal retirement plans, the Mayor challenged the electorate to shift their political perspective.

She urged Filipinos to abandon the “savior mentality”—the tendency to look for a single individual to solve the country’s woes—and instead focus on cultivating a new generation of competent, grassroots-oriented public servants.
