San Miguel Beer showcased overwhelming offensive firepower to blow past Titan Ultra, 143-113, in PBA Season 50 Governors’ Cup action on Wednesday at the Ynares Center in Antipolo—a game overshadowed by yet another health setback on the venue’s floor.
Import George King powered the Beermen with a commanding line of 39 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists, steering San Miguel to a lead that reached as high as 30 points. Rodney Brondial earned Player of the Game honors after delivering a monster double-double of 13 points, 17 rebounds, and four assists.
Don Trollano added 21 points, while Marcio Lassiter chipped in 15 as San Miguel extended its winning streak to three games and improved its campaign record to 7-2.
“Sa rebounds lang naman ako naka-focus. Sa intangibles lang talaga ako naka-focus,” said Brondial post-game. “Dito kasi sa team namin, marami namang scorer. Kung ano lang makakatulong sa team, dun lang ako naka-focus.”
Injury Concerns Mount at Ynares
The victory was tainted by an apparent right knee injury to Titan Ultra’s Bryan Sajonia, who went down awkwardly with 8:51 remaining in the third quarter and required a stretcher to exit the court. Before his departure, Sajonia logged four points, four assists, and two rebounds.
This marks the second consecutive evening a major injury occurred on the Ynares Center floor, coming right after NLEX Road Warriors import DeQuan Jones sustained right leg fractures during an overtime victory against TNT Tropang 5G on Tuesday.
Terrell Brown paced Titan Ultra (2-7) with 34 points, 13 rebounds, six assists, and four steals in a losing cause. Fran Yu and John Amores contributed 11 points apiece, while Jerrick Balanza chipped in 10.
