The executive branch is expected to submit the proposed ₱7-trillion 2027 national budget to Congress by August 14, according to Senate President Win Gatchalian.
The announcement came following the Senate’s approval of a concurrent resolution with the House of Representatives, which formalizes the legislative calendar for the 2nd Regular Session of the 20th Congress.

Lawmakers face a tight schedule as they balance traditional fiscal duties with extraordinary proceedings.
The second half of the year is traditionally dedicated to intensive committee hearings and floor debates on the proposed national budget, with the goal of enacting it into law before the fiscal year ends.
However, the Senate must simultaneously manage its standard legislative responsibilities alongside the ongoing impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte—a process Gatchalian noted could extend for more than a year.
