The Senate impeachment court is considering a shift to full-day trial sessions starting in October to prevent legislative delays and make room for upcoming committee hearings on the proposed 2027 national budget.
Senate President Francis “Chiz” Escudero, serving as the presiding officer of the impeachment proceedings, announced the tentative adjustment prior to concluding the trial’s 21st day on Wednesday, September 2.
Under the proposed arrangement, trial sessions would run from the morning through the early evening.
The preliminary calendar targets full-day hearings on October 1–2, October 5–9, and October 12–15. Additional full-day proceedings are under consideration for November 9 and November 16, with standard scheduling expected to resume on November 23.
This proposed schedule aims to balance the Senate’s dual responsibilities: conducting legislative deliberations on the annual spending plan while continuing the impeachment trial.
Escudero clarified that these prospective dates remain subject to official review and confirmation by the full Senate next week.
Following the adjournment of Wednesday’s session around 4:00 p.m., the impeachment trial is set to reconvene on Monday, September 7, at 10:00 a.m.
