SPEAKER DY BACKS CONTINUED EXPANSION OF DIGITAL INFRASTRUCTURE

House Speaker Faustino “Bojie” Dy III threw his support behind the ongoing expansion of the nation’s digital network, highlighting that programs like GovNet can vastly accelerate, secure, and ease the delivery of government services for Filipinos.

During Tuesday’s launch of GovNet Ilagan in Ilagan City, Isabela Board Member Manuel Faustino “King” Dy delivered the House Speaker’s message. Organizers from the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) spearheaded the event, representing another milestone in the state’s overarching digitalization campaign.

GovNet seeks to equip public agencies and state institutions with secure, high-speed internet connections to foster seamless inter-office coordination and elevate public service efficiency.

The House Speaker noted that this project perfectly mirrors President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s commitment to bolstering the country’s digital capacities alongside its traditional infrastructure.

The legislative leader added that technology-driven programs like GovNet, the National Broadband Program, and the eGovPH mobile app are closing the distance between the government and the public. These digital strides run parallel to the administration’s “Build Better More” initiative, which concentrates on traditional public works like highways and bridges.

Describing digital transformation as a defining element of the administration’s ultimate legacy, Dy emphasized its power to forge a highly connected and capable citizenry.

We are laying the groundwork for a digitally empowered nation,” he said.

He further underscored the legislature’s role in this modernization push, highlighting the House of Representatives’ passage of the proposed eBayad Bill, a priority measure designated by the Legislative-Executive Development Advisory Council (LEDAC).

“Our goal is to help build the foundations of a truly modern government- one where Bagong Pilipinas evolves into a Digital Pilipinas, where government services are faster, more transparent, and more accessible to every Filipino,” Dy said.

Through the newly launched GovNet Ilagan project, over 50 government departments across Isabela will benefit from swift, reliable, and secure internet connectivity. The upgrade is set to optimize workflow and communication among local government units, schools, and various public facilities throughout the province.

Dy concluded by praising the DICT, the provincial administration of Isabela, the city government of Ilagan, and all involved partners for successfully executing the project and driving the nation’s digital shift forward.
