The San Antonio Spurs have officially returned to the elite ranks of the Western Conference.
San Antonio delivered a commanding 139-109 blowout victory against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday (PH time), securing a 4-2 series win on the road and punching their ticket to the Western Conference Finals for the first time in nine years.
Rookie guard Stephon Castle stole the spotlight with a spectacular 32-point breakout performance, spearheading a relentless transition game that kept Minnesota on its heels from the opening tip.
Complementing the rookie’s scoring explosion, Victor Wembanyama anchored the interior with a dominant 19-point, 11-rebound double-double. De’Aaron Fox masterfully dictated the tempo, orchestrating the offense with 21 points and nine assists, while fellow freshman Dylan Harper provided a crucial spark off the bench with 15 points.
The Timberwolves struggled to counter San Antonio’s depth and blistering pace. Anthony Edwards paced Minnesota with 24 points, but his efforts were neutralized by a stifling Spurs defense that completely broke the game open in the second half.
With this decisive victory, the young Spurs advance to a highly anticipated Western Conference Finals showdown against the Oklahoma City Thunder in a battle of the league’s premier rising powerhouses.
