SURVEY SHOWS GAP NARROWING BETWEEN VP SARA AND MAYOR LENI FOR 2028 — OCTA

Though the 2028 presidential elections remain far off, the gap between Vice President Sara Duterte and former Vice President, now Naga City Mayor, Leni Robredo has narrowed, according to OCTA Research.

Professor Ranjit Rye of OCTA Research said Duterte continues to lead in their latest survey, but Robredo has climbed closer, reducing the gap to 9–12%. Senator Raffy Tulfo ranked third.

Rye noted that Robredo’s rise may have been influenced by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s recent visit to Naga City, though OCTA is still studying the factors behind the shift.

“We’re wondering also, she (Leni) didn’t do anything last quarter except for that visit the President made,” Rye said, suggesting the presidential visit may have boosted Robredo’s visibility.

OCTA Research is expected to release full survey details next week.

Duterte earlier announced her intention to run for president in 2028 despite facing a possible impeachment trial.

Robredo has clarified she is not yet considering a 2028 bid, while Tulfo said he has no plans to run for president or vice president, preferring instead to seek a second Senate term.
