It remains unclear whether former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV will appear at the upcoming House Committee on Justice impeachment hearing against Vice President Sara Duterte.
Bicol Saro Party-list Representative Terry Ridon, a member of the Justice committee, said on Saturday that complainants have yet to confirm if they will call on Trillanes to testify.
“At the moment, wala akong information kung magpapakita si Sen. Trillanes,” Ridon said during a media forum.
“But ang pagkakaalam ko he has been mentioned in one of the complaints. So I think we will have to ask one of the complainants or their endorsers if they will ask Sen. Trillanes to be part of the hearing proper.”
Trillanes previously testified in a congressional hearing in 2024, alleging that over ₱2.4 billion was funneled by Davao businessman Sammy Uy into the bank accounts of Vice President Duterte, her siblings, and Honeylet Avanceña, partner of former President Rodrigo Duterte, between 2007 and 2015.
He further claimed that retired policeman Arturo Lascañas, a former member of the Davao Death Squad, identified Uy as part of a drug syndicate alongside Michael Yang and Charlie Tan.
The House Committee on Justice is set to hold the impeachment hearing on April 14, where witness Ramil Madriaga has already been cleared by the Manila Regional Trial Court to attend despite being detained at Camp Bagong Diwa on a kidnapping charge.
