The United States and Japan maintained high trust levels among Filipinos, whereas China, Palestine, and Iran registered as the least trusted nations, according to the latest survey by Social Weather Stations (SWS).
The Second Quarter 2026 Social Weather Survey, administered from June 20 to 29, revealed that the United States achieved a “good” net trust rating of +42, while Japan followed closely with a “good” score of +36. Australia secured a “moderate” rating of +29, whereas Israel (-5) and Russia (-8) were placed in the “neutral” tier.
Meanwhile, China (-16), Palestine (-19), and Iran (-23) all recorded ratings within the “poor” classification.
Compared to the March survey, positive net trust scores saw upward momentum:
- United States: Rose 3 points from +39 to +42
- Japan: Gained 2 points from +34 to +36
- Australia: Increased 6 points from +23 to +29
- China: Improved slightly from -19 to -16
Conversely, several nations experienced declines or remained low:
- Israel: Dropped 6 points from +1 to -5
- Palestine: Fell 7 points from -12 to -19
- Russia: Slipped 3 points from -5 to -8
- Iran: Edged down 1 point from -22 to -23
The nationwide face-to-face poll interviewed 1,200 adult respondents. SWS noted that the survey carries a ±3 percentage point margin of error for national figures and ±6 percentage points for Metro Manila, Balance Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
