Vice President Sara Duterte called for President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to step down from office on Friday, September 11, during an address to supporters gathered along Elliptical Road in Quezon City following her court appearance at the Quezon City Regional Trial Court.
Speaking before the crowd, Duterte urged the public to persist in demanding the President’s departure, framing him as a major issue facing the country.
Her remarks drew immediate chants from supporters echoing her demand for Marcos to vacate his post.
“Tandaan ninyo, patuloy tayong manawagan ng paglayas ng problema ng ating bayan na ang pangalan ay ‘Bongbong Marcos’,” Duterte said. “Resign! Umalis ka diyan!”
Duterte accused the Marcos administration of dishonesty, widespread abuse of power, and targeting truth-tellers while disregarding public mandate and accountability.
“Sinungaling ka. Abusado ka. Wala siyang utang na loob sa taong-bayan. Wala siyang utang na loob sa lahat ng presinto para iluklok siya sa pwesto. Wala siyang hiya,” Duterte stated. “Walang ginagawa ang administrasyon ni Marcos kundi habulin ang mga taong nagsasabi ng totoo.”
The Vice President asserted that her decision to speak out stems from directly witnessing executive excesses and observing the daily struggles of citizens.
“Ang administrasyon ni Marcos ay abusado. Dahil nakita ko mismo, sa mga mata ko, ang abuso ni Marcos,” she said.
“Mahal ko kayo. Hindi ko magawang umalis. Hindi ko magawang tumahimik na lang dahil nakikita ko kayong lumalangoy sa baha, dahil nakikita ko kayong hirap na hirap, para sa inyong pamilya.”
Closing her address, Duterte urged her followers to continuously oppose corruption, lawlessness, and what she characterized as erratic leadership under the current government.
“Patuloy tayong makipaglaban sa mga abusado, sa mga adik at sa mga korap,” Duterte urged.
“Ganun talaga pag adik. Hindi na dumadaan sa realidad ang pag-iisip. Huwag ninyong kalimutan ang panahon kung saan binabali ang batas ng harap-harapan.”
