VP SARA DOMINATES 2028 PRESIDENTIAL PREFERENCE POLL AMID IMPEACHMENT WOES

Vice President Sara Duterte remains the frontrunner for the 2028 presidential race, according to the latest Pulse Asia survey released Monday, even as she faces a potential impeachment trial in the Senate.

The survey, conducted from February 27 to May 2 and commissioned by the office of Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel “Migz” Zubiri, shows Duterte securing a commanding 43% voting preference.

Coming in second is former Vice President and current Naga City Mayor Leni Robredo with 27%, despite her repeated assertions that she has no plans to return to national politics.

Senator Raffy Tulfo placed third with 19%. Similar to Robredo, Tulfo has maintained that he intends to focus on his re-election bid for the Senate rather than pursuing a higher office.

Rounding out the list of potential contenders are:

  • Senator Bam Aquino (5%)
  • Senate Deputy Majority Leader Risa Hontiveros (2%)
  • Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla (1%)

REGIONAL BREAKDOWN

The survey reveals a tight three-way race in the National Capital Region (NCR), where Duterte leads with 35%, followed closely by Robredo at 27% and Tulfo at 24%.

In “Balance Luzon,” Robredo holds a significant advantage with 44%, while Tulfo garnered 26% and Duterte trailed at 16%.

However, Duterte dominates the southern regions, securing 60% in the Visayas compared to Robredo’s 16% and Tulfo’s 11%. In her bailiwick of Mindanao, Duterte achieved a landslide 88% preference, with Tulfo and Robredo trailing at 7% and 3%, respectively.
