VP SARA HITS ADMINISTRATION OVER INFLATION, ALLEGES POLITICAL DIVERSION OF FUNDS

Vice President Sara Duterte on Wednesday, April 15, criticized the administration’s handling of rising inflation, alleging that public funds are being diverted for political purposes instead of providing relief to struggling Filipinos.

Her remarks come as households continue to grapple with elevated prices of basic goods, intensifying public debate over the government’s economic management and response to inflationary pressures.

“The failure of the administration to provide relief in this price crisis is not due to a lack of resources, but because public funds are being used for political maneuvering,” Duterte said.

The Vice President made the statement following her attendance at a hearing on her impeachment case before the House Committee on Justice, which she described as a “mini-trial.”

She also accused some lawmakers of misconduct during the proceedings.

“True to form for some of its members: abuse and corruption appear to be the only things they are capable of,” she said.

Duterte further alleged that the impeachment process has been marred by irregularities, pointing to earlier complaints involving lawmakers.

“Let us remember that the first impeachment case itself was marred by allegations of bribery involving members of the HOR, and this second impeachment is no better,” she added.
