Vice President Sara Duterte has no plans to step down from her post despite her active impeachment trial, according to defense panel spokesperson Atty. Michael Poa.
Addressing rumors during an August 26 media briefing, Poa clarified that while resigning was an option evaluated by the legal team, Duterte herself is not considering it.
“Hindi naman pinag-uusapan ng Bise Presidente ‘yan. The Vice President is not even discussing that,” Poa stated. “Obviously, as a lawyer, naisip na namin matagal na. That’s one of the options, but, you know, the Vice President has no plans of resigning.”
Poa emphasized that Duterte remains committed to fulfilling her duties out of respect for the electoral mandate given to her by millions of voters in 2022.
“She has always considered the 32 million people who voted for her,” he added.
