VP SARA SKIPS IMPEACHMENT HEARING TO LAUNCH OVP HISTORY EXHIBIT IN LAGUNA

While the House Committee on Justice convened on Wednesday, April 29, to deliberate on the existence of probable cause in her impeachment cases, Vice President Sara Duterte was in San Pedro City, Laguna, for a public engagement.

Official updates from her social media accounts and the Office of the Vice President (OVP) confirmed that she led the inauguration of a pop-up exhibit titled “Extra+Ordinary: The Vice Presidents of the Philippines.” The event took place at a local mall, showcasing the history of the country’s second-highest office.

During the launch, the Vice President emphasized the importance of honoring her predecessors, noting that many served during the nation’s most turbulent eras without seeking the limelight.

“Hindi sila laging nakakakuha ng palakpak. Hindi sila laging naaalala. Ngunit sa panahong kinailangan ng bansa ang katatagan, nandoon ang ating mga Vice Presidents,” Duterte stated.

She described the exhibit as a tribute to the 14 individuals who have occupied the post, highlighting their often-difficult decisions that were “unpopular but necessary.”

“This is the real story of the Vice Presidency. Not power. Not prestige. Ordinary people with extraordinary love for the Philippines,” she added.

The educational initiative features the life stories and milestones of vice presidents ranging from Sergio Osmeña Sr. to Duterte’s immediate predecessor, Leni Robredo. According to the OVP, the project is designed to tour 90 locations across the country to bring political history closer to the Filipino people.

The Laguna leg of the exhibit is scheduled to run until May 13. While Duterte focused on the historical legacy of her office in the province, lawmakers in Quezon City continued to examine allegations against her, including the reported misuse of confidential funds and alleged grave threats against national officials.
