The net worth of Vice President Sara Duterte rose to ₱88.5 million in 2024, even as the liabilities attributed to her and her husband, Atty. Mans Carpio, saw a significant increase over a two-year period.
According to the Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALN) submitted by the Office of the Ombudsman to the House Committee on Justice, the Vice President’s net worth grew by ₱11 million from the ₱77.5 million reported in 2023.
The 2024 filing details a total of ₱66.8 million in real estate properties and ₱31.6 million in personal assets.
However, the document also reflects a spike in total liabilities, which reached ₱9.95 million in 2024—a jump from the ₱3.75 million recorded in 2022.
The SALN specifically identified the ₱9.95 million debt as the liability of her husband.
The records were produced by the Ombudsman in compliance with a subpoena related to the ongoing impeachment proceedings against Duterte.
The Vice President is currently facing allegations of accumulating unexplained wealth, a charge that forms part of the grounds for the impeachment complaint.
A look back at her previous filings shows a steady upward trend in her declared wealth:
- 2022: A net worth of ₱71.5 million, derived from ₱50.9 million in real properties and ₱23.8 million in personal properties, offset by ₱3.75 million in liabilities.
- 2023: A net worth of ₱77.5 million, consisting of ₱54 million in real properties and ₱25 million in personal properties, with liabilities decreasing slightly to ₱2.55 million.
The House committee continues to scrutinize these financial disclosures as part of its formal investigation.
