Two-time Olympic gold medalist Carlos Yulo clinched the gold medal in the floor exercise final at the 13th Men’s Artistic Gymnastics Senior Asian Championships on Saturday. Making the moment historic for Philippine sports, his younger brother, Eldrew Yulo, shared the podium by taking home the bronze.
Carlos delivered a stellar performance to rule the competition with a top score of 14.700. He narrowly beat out Japan’s Shoma Tsukiyama, who took the silver medal with a close score of 14.600.
Eldrew secured third place with a solid 14.300, marking the very first time the Yulo brothers have shared an international podium at the senior level.
The competition also served as the first time the two siblings have faced off directly against each other in the senior Asian Championships.
The Yulo brothers are slated for more action as the tournament continues, with Carlos qualified to compete in two more apparatus finals on Sunday, while Eldrew is set to challenge for another medal in one final event.
