Filipina tennis standout Alex Eala has secured a new milestone in her professional career, rising to World No. 18 in the latest WTA Rankings just ahead of the final Grand Slam tournament of the season.
This fresh career peak for the 21-year-old comes shortly after her breakthrough victory in Washington, D.C., where she clinched her maiden WTA Tour title.
Meanwhile, the upper echelon of the women’s singles rankings remained unchanged at the top, with Aryna Sabalenka, Elena Rybakina, Jessica Pegula, and Coco Gauff holding onto the top four spots, while Mirra Andreeva moved up one position to complete the top five.
Eala will begin her upcoming campaign in New York in the mixed doubles division, partnering with Canada’s world No. 4, Félix Auger-Aliassime. The duo is slated to open their tournament against the high-profile married tandem of Elina Svitolina and Gaël Monfils.
Auger-Aliassime arrives at the US Open following back-to-back quarterfinal appearances at Roland Garros and Wimbledon. Those performances marked a landmark achievement, making him the first Canadian male player to advance to the final eight across all four major championships.
Over his career, the Canadian athlete has captured nine ATP Tour singles crowns and advanced to the US Open semifinals in both 2021 and 2025.
Standing opposite them are two of the sport’s most prominent figures. The 39-year-old Monfils, a former world No. 6 with 13 ATP singles titles, is competing in his final season before retirement.
His wife, Svitolina, reached a career-high of world No. 3, holds 20 WTA singles titles, and earned the WTA’s Comeback Player of the Year honors in 2023.
