MANILA — Black Eyed Peas member Allan Pineda, universally known as Apl.de.Ap, has launched his very first solo EP titled “PPP” (Power to the Pilipino People) under GMA Music, bringing forth a three-track collection centered on unity, hope, and patriotism.
Marking his first major independent project outside of the Grammy-winning international group, the EP serves as a heartfelt homage to his roots and a source of inspiration for listeners back home in the Philippines.
“I wanted to make sure it represented who I am as a Filipino, and I dedicate it to my home country, the Philippines,” Apl said.
The project is spearheaded by the track “Why,” which features OPM rock legend Bamboo. The powerful collaboration addresses the nation’s contemporary challenges while urging citizens and leaders alike to stand up for their rights and prioritize public welfare. The long-awaited partnership with Bamboo brought immense satisfaction to the hip-hop icon, who noted they had wanted to work together for years.
The second track, “Turn Around,” teams Apl up with fellow Black Eyed Peas member and Fil-Am artist J. Rey Soul, delivering an uplifting message of resilience through both personal and collective struggles. Rounding out the EP is “Pinoy United,” featuring Datu Khomeini, widely recognized as the King of Moro Songs.
Drawing heavy inspiration from Mindanao’s rich cultural tapestry and ongoing peace efforts, the track champions solidarity and harmony across diverse communities.
Consistently weaving his cultural identity into his craft, Apl noted that the record heavily incorporates Filipino values and local elements.
The “PPP” EP is now available for streaming globally across all major music platforms.
