The Manila City government marked the first anniversary of President Corazon Aquino General Hospital—commonly known as Baseco Hospital—on Sunday, September 6, by turning over new medical equipment to expand local healthcare services.
Manila Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso inspected the newly arrived assets, which include an X-ray machine, two laboratory refrigerators, and two anesthesia machines.
“Masaya po akong ibalita sa mga taga-Baseco na dumating na ang mga bagong kagamitang inilaan natin para sa Baseco Hospital. Eto na po ang X-ray machine, laboratory refrigerator at dalawang anesthesia machine,” he said.
Baseco Hospital Director Dr. Naomi Lachica Licuanan noted that the equipment will significantly boost the facility’s overall capabilities.
She stated that the X-ray unit will be installed following electrical upgrades by city engineers, after which it will undergo calibration and FDA accreditation processing.
Highlighting the city’s focus on housing, education, jobs, and health, Domagoso stressed that infrastructure must be paired with functional tools:
“Hindi lang pagtatayo ng pasilidad. Kailangan may sapat na kagamitan para maayos nating maibigay ang serbisyong pangkalusugan sa mga Manileño,” he said.
Baseco holds the distinction of being the only individual barangay in Manila with its own dedicated public hospital. During the event, Domagoso also acknowledged donated furniture from DivinaLaw Founder Atty. Nilo Divina.
“Saktong-sakto ang dating ng mga bagong kagamitan. Kasabay ng unang anibersaryo ng Baseco Hospital, nadagdagan ang kakayahan natin na makapagbigay ng maayos na serbisyong pangkalusugan sa mga taga-Baseco,” he said.
