The Cagayan de Oro City government has officially turned over a ₱50.9-million smart school annex at Carmen National High School, aiming to upgrade student learning with modern, technology-driven facilities.
Mayor Rolando Uy spearheaded the inauguration of the three-story, nine-classroom structure on Friday, emphasizing the city’s commitment to modernizing local education.
”I made sure that these classrooms are ready for the future, equipped to meet the demands of an increasingly technology-driven world,” Uy told reporters in an interview.
Built with durable materials for long-term use and student safety, the new building integrates advanced digital learning tools in every classroom, including computers, projectors, and Smart TVs. The ground floor houses a dedicated storage space along with a data cabinet for the campus’s CCTV system.
Funded through the Local School Board, the facility includes key safety and utility features such as fire protection systems, smoke detectors, a backup generator, and dedicated water tanks to ensure continuous utility service.
This project marks the start of a broader initiative, with the city government planning to finish several more smart school facilities valued at over ₱100 million by 2027.
