CEBU CITY, Philippines — Hundreds of thousands of non-government employees across Central Visayas are slated to receive higher daily pay next month following national clearance for a region-wide compensation adjustment.
According to the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), the National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC) approved a ₱42 daily rate bump during a deliberation session in Cebu on September 26.
The new pay scale takes effect on Wednesday, October 14, and covers private sector staff in Cebu, Bohol, Negros Oriental, and Siquijor.
With the new adjustment, workers in Class A areas will see their daily minimum pay climb to ₱582, while employees in Class B areas will receive ₱542 per day. The wage hike is expected to directly benefit roughly 337,476 workers in the region.
The NWPC’s approval came after the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) VII submitted its proposal following extensive consultations and public hearings with labor representatives, management groups, and local stakeholders.
Five of the seven NWPC commissioners were present to unanimously confirm the order.
Following the national panel’s approval, RTWPB VII will officially publish the final order in accordance with standard regulatory procedures before its October implementation.
