Film producer and CinePanalo Film Festival director Chris Cahilig has stepped in as the temporary manager for Kapuso actress Bea Alonzo, following the resignation of her long-time talent manager Shirley Kuan on August 11, ending their nearly six-year professional relationship.
According to a report published by the Philippine Daily Inquirer on August 23, Alonzo and her husband, business mogul Vincent Co, requested Cahilig to step in to handle her current endorsements and incoming business inquiries. Cahilig confirmed the arrangement in an exclusive interview with the publication.
“I am not really privy doon sa conversation nila,” Cahilig stated. “But there is a need to take care of unfinished businesses. There are inquiries for endorsements. So the couple approached me if, for the meantime, I can take care of all those things for them. And I agreed as the interim agent or manager for Bea.”
Cahilig explained that his immediate focus is managing Alonzo’s active commitments and evaluating projects aligned with this stage of her life, noting that the actress is prioritizing her family following her recent marriage to Co.
He also dismissed online speculation about client poaching, clarifying that he only stepped in after Kuan had officially resigned.
“I love the family. Bea is part of the family na rin and everything. She resigned kaya ako interim kasi somebody has to take care of what she left, di ba?” he explained.
The management transition comes amid widespread online speculation regarding potential friction between Kuan and the actress over her marriage.
Kuan previously noted that she was unware of the wedding ceremony despite serving as Alonzo’s manager at the time, though she has not publicly addressed the speculation surrounding her resignation.
Neither Alonzo nor Kuan has issued formal statements detailing the cause of the split.
