The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) announced the successful printing of more than 400,000 official ballots designated for the upcoming August 29 special election in the Fourth Legislative District of Dasmariñas City, Cavite.
The printing operation wrapped up on Saturday at the National Printing Office in Quezon City within a single day.
“Printing has been completed. We have achieved 100% completion, with a total of 447,387 official ballots,” COMELEC Chairperson George Garcia said in a statement.
“The next things to do are sheeting, cutting, and stitching,” he added.
The special election aims to fill the congressional seat made vacant following the expulsion of former Cavite 4th District Representative Kiko Barzaga from the House of Representatives in June due to “disorderly behavior, conduct unbecoming of a member, and violations of the House of Representativesʼ “Code of Conduct”.
Five candidates are competing for the position: Marvin Dupal-ag, Jacinto Frani Jr., Raul Rex Mangubat, Leysander Ordenes, and Dasmariñas City Mayor Jennifer Barzaga, who is the former lawmaker’s mother.
