Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla led the handover of 50 emergency 911 motorcycles at the Police Regional Office 8 (PRO8) Headquarters in Palo, Leyte, on Tuesday, August 11.
The newly turned-over scooters are earmarked for tourist police units across six provincial and two city police offices in Eastern Visayas. This distribution forms a key part of the Department of the Interior and Local Government’s (DILG) national rollout to expand its Unified 911 emergency response network.
By enhancing officer mobility, the new vehicles aim to help police personnel—alongside local government units and emergency crews—cut down response times and reach critical incidents faster.
During the event, Remulla praised the Philippine National Police (PNP) for its public service record and urged officers to keep elevating their operational standard.
”I’m very proud of the PNP. For the first time in its history, it has the highest performance ranking and is one of the most trusted agencies in the Philippines. We mean well. We mean business. We are serious,” Remulla said.
Following the ceremony, the secretary chaired a strategic meeting with DILG Region 8 leaders and senior regional officials.
The Leyte distribution follows a prior turnover of 20 motorcycle units in the Bicol Region, with an additional batch of 20 units scheduled for delivery in Makati City.
