The Department of Tourism (DOT) has officially named P-pop powerhouse SB19 as the country’s newest tourism ambassadors, tapping into their massive global influence to promote Philippine culture and travel destinations worldwide.
Announcing the partnership on Sunday, the DOT praised the group for showcasing Filipino talent on the international stage, noting that their global reach makes them ideal representatives for the nation.
Tourism Secretary Dita Angara-Mathay highlighted how SB19’s expanding international fan base presents a prime opportunity to drive inbound tourism.
“SB19’s talent is undeniable — their music is powerful, and so is their influence. They have the reach to connect with fans across the United States, Europe, ASEAN, and beyond,” Angara-Mathay said.
“SB19 is giving people real reasons to visit the Philippines. That’s the kind of reach we want to build on.”
To kick off the collaboration, the agency presented SB19 with a “Galingbayan” box, which the five-member group proudly showcased to their followers on social media.
In an online statement, SB19 expressed deep gratitude for the designation. Group member Josh noted that the ambassadorship aligns with their long-time goals as artists.
“By taking our music to established international markets, we can connect with the global Filipino diaspora, share our culture, and give them that feeling of home,” Josh said.
The appointment comes as SB19 prepares to make history as the first Filipino act to perform at the Lollapalooza music festival in Chicago.
With this milestone, SB19 joins fellow P-pop sensation BINI on the DOT’s roster of brand ambassadors, underlining the crucial role of local pop culture in promoting Philippine tourism to global audiences.
