Actress and model Gee Canlas has opened up about the breakdown of her marriage to actor-comedian Archie Alemania, alleging multiple incidents of physical domestic abuse during their relationship.
Speaking in an interview with talent manager Ogie Diaz, Canlas countered previous statements made by her ex-husband regarding their split.
While Alemania previously attributed their breakup to differing views on marital roles and admitted to hitting her once with a tumbler, Canlas detailed a broader history of violence.
Canlas recounted a severe argument where Alemania struck her with a stainless-steel tumbler, stating the impact was forceful enough that she heard her own skull.
She also described another incident where she tried to prevent him from leaving during a fight, alleging he pushed her and punched her side, leaving her struggling to breathe. A subsequent hospital visit revealed two fractured ribs.
The actress admitted she hid the injury from her family at the time to preserve her marriage, noting that her father would be hearing about the assault for the first time through the interview.
“This is the first time na malalaman ito ng dad ko,” Canlas stated.
Addressing the broader dynamics of their relationship, Canlas acknowledged her own reactions during arguments but rejected any blame for the physical harm she suffered.
“I can only take responsibility for my actions. I can’t take responsibility for someone hurting me,” she explained.
The pair married in October 2018 before Canlas officially confirmed their separation on Boy Abunda’s talk show in March, noting that she initiated the exit. Canlas emphasized that she possesses proof to substantiate her claims.
“Everything I say in this interview is backed with evidence,” she asserted.
Alemania has yet to issue a public statement responding to Canlas’ latest claims.
