Public schools across Las Piñas City have enhanced campus security protocols following a fatal stabbing incident at Las Piñas National High School, prompting school authorities to advise parents—particularly those with elementary students—to send their children to school with clear, transparent water bottles.
The Las Piñas Schools Division Office (SDO) confirmed that the heightened measures aim to safeguard student well-being across all public educational institutions in the city.
During an emergency meeting on Saturday, August 1, led by Schools Division Superintendent Melody Cruz and attended by public school principals, authorities reminded students to refrain from bringing sharp objects to school.
Administrators urged learners to immediately report bullying, harassment, or suspicious activities to teachers and guidance counselors.
Department of Education National Capital Region (DepEd NCR) Regional Director and concurrent OIC Assistant Secretary for Operations Jocelyn DR Andaya also attended the meeting, which focused on reinforcing campus safety, preventive strategies, and community coordination.
”One life taken is a life too many,” Andaya stated, urging school personnel, parents, and community stakeholders to collaborate in ensuring child-friendly, secure learning spaces.
Reaffirming a zero-tolerance policy against school violence and bullying, the SDO encouraged parents to inspect their children’s school bags daily and reinforce positive values, discipline, and responsible conduct at home.
