Filipina actress Liza Soberano has landed a major international role after being selected to join the jury for the inaugural Golden Globes Impact Prize for Documentary.
The newly introduced award, established by the Golden Globes alongside the Artemis Rising Foundation and supported by Think-Film Impact Production, will be presented during the 83rd Venice International Film Festival.
Designed to elevate non-fiction cinema, the initiative honors documentaries that use compelling storytelling to tackle critical societal issues and inspire meaningful public discourse.
Expressing her enthusiasm for the appointment, Soberano reflected on the transformative potential of non-fiction cinema beyond basic entertainment.
“I’ve always believed that film has the power to do more than entertain, it can challenge injustice, offer safety, inspire hope and remind us of our shared humanity,” she stated.
The actress also expressed her appreciation for being invited to evaluate this year’s slate of documentary entries.
“Documentary filmmaking is where some of the most courageous and unforgettable storytelling is happening today. I’m honored to serve on this jury,” Soberano added.
Soberano serves on the panel alongside prominent industry figures, including Golden Globes President Helen Hoehne, Artemis Rising Foundation Founder Regina K. Scully, Impact Partners Co-Founder Geralyn White Dreyfous, and Think-Film Impact Production CEO Danielle Turkov Wilson. The recipient of the award will be awarded a $10,000 cash grant provided by the Artemis Rising Foundation.
The 83rd Venice International Film Festival is scheduled to take place in Italy from September 2 to 12.
