The Makati City government has implemented a total ban on drone operations citywide for the month of November to reinforce security for the country’s hosting of the 49th Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit.
In an official advisory, local authorities announced that flying drones and other unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) is strictly forbidden across all barangays and public areas, covering recreational, commercial, and media activities alike.

“This restriction aims to ensure smooth security and communications during the upcoming ASEAN 2026 events hosted in our city,” the Makati LGU said in a social media post.
The local government stressed that the precaution is designed to safeguard foreign heads of state, international delegates, dignitaries, and residents as high-level meetings take place.
Makati officials have appealed to drone hobbyists, owners, and the general public for full cooperation and compliance during the month-long restriction.
The Philippines is scheduled to host the 49th ASEAN Summit from November 16 to 18, 2026.
