David Murrell delivered the decisive play as Blackwater held off NLEX, 109-107, in the PBA on Tour on Wednesday, September 9, at the San Jose Del Monte Sports Complex in Bulacan.
The seldom-used forward made a crucial impact in the closing moments, stealing the ball from Evan Nelle before finishing a breakaway with a two-handed dunk that gave the Bossing a two-point lead with 30 seconds remaining.
Blackwater then tightened its defense and disrupted NLEX’s final two offensive possessions, preserving the victory until the final buzzer.
Neither team suited up an import for the game. Blackwater remained without Kentrell Barkley, while NLEX opted not to play Deonte Burton, who had joined the Road Warriors as a replacement for original import Dequan Jones.
NLEX remained tied with San Miguel at the top of Group A with a 7-2 record, while Blackwater stood in the middle of Group B at 3-3.
Both squads also played without key players Robert Bolick and Sedrick Barefield, who are currently on loan to Gilas Pilipinas for the country’s title defense at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.
