MANILA, Philippines — The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) has heightened its security posture to full alert status ahead of the scheduled demonstrations on September 21, the Philippine National Police (PNP) announced.
PNP spokesperson PCol. Allen Rae Co stated on Friday, September 18, that the elevated security readiness took effect earlier than the original September 19 schedule following recent operational assessments.
“It was deemed appropriate after they had conducted their command conference or final coordinating conference na ngayon na po September 18 i-upgrade ang alert level po ng NCRPO,” Co said during a press briefing.
Co clarified that the advance deployment posture aims to provide officers adequate time to organize and adapt to potential developments during the rallies. He emphasized that the decision was a proactive operational move rather than a reaction to any specific threat.
Police units have already conducted security walkthroughs across anticipated rally sites to spot potential vulnerabilities and map out necessary interventions. Authorities are also finalizing traffic management strategies and possible road closures near key protest areas.
According to Co, the PNP drew insights from previous September 21 mobilizations to shape its current security framework and resource distribution.
Meanwhile, Malacañang urged rally organizers and participating groups to maintain peace and order throughout the planned actions and avoid any acts of violence.
