The newly constructed ₱9.2-billion Pasig City Hall is expected to open its doors to the public in a few months, following a rapid eight-month construction period from its groundbreaking to its structural completion.
City officials, led by Mayor Vico Sotto, marked the milestone with a topping-off ceremony on June 15 to celebrate the building reaching its maximum height. The inspection was conducted alongside the project contractor, the Pasig City Hall Construction Consortium.
The ambitious project—deemed by Sotto as the city’s largest infrastructure initiative to date—initially broke ground in October 2025.
During the site tour, the mayor expressed amazement at the swift construction timeline and the sheer scale of the complex.
“I realized that the New City Hall is actually four buildings: 3 interconnected towers + a huge plaza that is elevated with parking/evacuation areas underneath,” he said.
Sotto expressed excitement for its upcoming completion, sharing the milestone directly with his constituents.
“Ilang buwan na lang magagamit na ito ng mga Pasigueño!,” Sotto added.
The redevelopment plan was set in motion in 2019 after structural issues and visible cracks were discovered throughout the old city hall. Because the local government lacked historical blueprints and records for the original site, city engineers could not perform a comprehensive structural audit.
A private structural engineering firm was subsequently hired to assess the site. Their official findings revealed that the existing structures were no longer structurally sound or safe for public occupancy.
While the local government initially set the Approved Budget for the Contract (ABC) at a maximum price ceiling of ₱9.6 billion during the bidding phase, the winning bid from the consortium came in lower at ₱9.2 billion.
According to City Administrator Atty. Jeronimo Manzanero, the base construction cost totals ₱8,269,436,471.17—broken down into ₱5.7 billion for the primary civic infrastructure and ₱2.5 billion for supplementary works. The final contract price reaches ₱9,261,768,847.71 once the ₱992,332,376.54 Value-Added Tax (VAT) is applied.
