Original Pilipino Music once again took center stage on VIBE PLUS, the Philippines’ fan-driven OPM LIVE countdown, as artists and performers filled the latest episode with tributes, live performances, and a new set of leaderboard results.
The show opened with the VIBE JOCKS and Star Worx artists performing classic OPM favorites, including “Napapa-UUUH,” “Don Romantiko,” and “Ye Ye Vonel.”
VIBE PLUS also paid tribute to Broadway icon and OPM legend Lea Salonga for making history as the first Filipina to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The episode took a more emotional turn with Six Part Invention, who performed “Falling In Love” and “Time Machine.” Vocalist Ray also opened up about the inspiration behind their latest single, “Wasak.”
“Basta dumating sa aking ang song and di naman related sa amin na directly. Pero nakikita ko sa mga friends ko, and sa mga nakikitang stories online, kaya nabuo ang song.”
The women of Star Worx later took the stage with performances of “What If I Miss You For The Best Of My Life?,” “Step Back,” and “Sugar N’ Spice.”
After a month of voting, the latest MAIN VIBE leaderboard also delivered a surprise as female acts dominated the top three spots.
Taking No. 3 was New Flame with “Kaakit-akit.” Member Aya expressed gratitude for the opportunity to share their music with audiences and thanked their supporters for continuously voting for the group.
Angela Ken landed at No. 2 with her MAIN VIBE comeback performance of “Baka Bukas.” She also promoted her upcoming first major concert, “Panahon Na Natin,” scheduled for October 18 at New Frontier Theater.
Claiming the No. 1 spot were P-pop rookies XONARA with their latest comeback track, “PULA.” The group also announced their upcoming international appearances in Singapore, including Music Matters LIVE on October 4 and One Zone Fest on October 24–25.
The episode reached another highlight with a 25-minute performance from Philippine Concert King Martin Nievera, who delivered a selection of his biggest hits, including “On The Right Track,” “Please Don’t Throw My Love Away,” “Pain,” “Don’t Know What To Say,” “I’ll Be There” with VIBE JOCK Dylan, “Forever” with VIBE JOCK Gigi, “Be My Lady,” “Say That You Love Me,” and “You Are My Song.”
Nievera was also presented with a VIBE purple plaque recognizing his milestones and contributions to the OPM industry.
Voting for the MAIN VIBE leaderboard will close on September 9 at 11:59 a.m.
Meanwhile, the excitement continues as Mr. Pure Energy Gary Valenciano is set to appear on the next episode this Saturday.
