“OTHER WORLDS: A STRANGER THINGS ADVENTURE” SET TO PREMIERE ON NETFLIX IN 2028

LOS ANGELES, California — Netflix has officially greenlit Other Worlds: A Stranger Things Adventure, an upcoming live-action prequel series that will transport fans back to the 1950s, decades before the events of the flagship sci-fi hit and the stage play Stranger Things: The First Shadow.

Developed by franchise creators Matt and Ross Duffer alongside longtime writer and showrunner Kate Trefry, the series will trade the iconic 1980s setting of Hawkins, Indiana, for an entirely new era.

While exact plot specifics remain under wraps, a teaser released alongside the announcement points to a new mystery unfolding on April 19, 1955, in Marion, Nevada.

The Duffer Brothers expressed enthusiasm for the long-awaited project, sharing:

“We’ve been dreaming of Other Worlds: A Stranger Things Adventure for many years now, and to see it become a reality is surreal and exhilarating.”

They added:

“It’s Stranger Things, but also thrillingly fresh, with a new setting, new heroes and villains, and new… actually, we’re not allowed to say any more.”

BAFTA and Golden Globe-winning director Joe Wright (Pride & Prejudice, Atonement) is slated to direct the first three episodes. Production for the series is scheduled to take place in New Mexico, with Netflix yet to announce the official cast.
