OVER 70,000 VISIT MANILA NORTH CEMETERY AHEAD OF UNDAS

Over 72,000 individuals flocked to the Manila North Cemetery on Saturday afternoon, just a day before the observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day.

Data released by the Manila Police District showed that the crowd estimate recorded at 3:00 p.m. reflects a jump of roughly 30,000 from the 40,000 attendees logged earlier at 1:00 p.m.

As the nation’s largest burial ground, the Manila North Cemetery anticipates a massive influx of up to 2 million visitors throughout the traditional Undas period. To manage the heavy traffic and foot traffic expected in the area, authorities have implemented road closures along several surrounding thoroughfares, including portions of Blumentritt Street, Dimasalang Street, and Maceda Street.

To assist the public, the cemetery management has rolled out several convenience services, such as a “Puntod Finder” digital tool designed to help visitors easily locate specific tombstones, alongside complimentary rides dedicated to senior citizens.
