QUEZON CITY, Philippines — The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) has joined forces with two Quezon City facilities to broaden access to specialized rehabilitation care for youth with special needs.
Through a newly signed memorandum of agreement, PhilHealth will collaborate with the QC Kabahagi Center for Children with Disabilities and the Rosario Maclang Bautista General Hospital (RMBGH). The partnership expands the reach of PhilHealth’s specialized Z Benefit Package, specifically targeting children diagnosed with developmental disabilities across the city.
The alliance was solidified during a strategic meeting between Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte and PhilHealth Acting President and CEO Dr. Beverly Lorraine Ho.
Alongside finalizing the agreement, the leadership discussed broader strategies to bolster municipal healthcare delivery and improve local execution of national health initiatives.
Discussions also addressed operational hurdles regarding the implementation of the Yaman ng Kalusugan (YAKAP) and Guaranteed and Accessible Medications for Outpatient Treatment (GAMOT) programs, with both parties exploring solutions to ensure smoother service distribution.
Also present at the meeting were Quezon City Chief of Staff Weng Macatao, City Administrator Mike Alimurung, Epidemiology and Surveillance Division head Dr. Rolly Cruz, RMBGH Medical Center Chief Dr. Dave Vergara, and Information Technology and Development Department Officer-in-Charge Mary Ann Cruz.
