PMPC ANNOUNCES NOMINEES FOR 17TH STAR AWARDS FOR MUSIC

​The Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC) Star Awards Inc. has officially revealed the list of nominees for the 17th Star Awards for Music, celebrating exceptional achievements within the local music industry over the past year.

​The highly anticipated awards night will take place on June 25 at the Teatrino Promenade in San Juan City. The event is set to be directed by Calvin Neria and produced by Echo Jham Entertainment.

​In addition to recognizing the current roster of nominees, the PMPC will bestow lifetime achievement honors upon three music industry pillars for their enduring impact on Original Pilipino Music (OPM).

Veteran OPM icons Celeste Legaspi and Andrew E. are named recipients of the Pilita Corrales Lifetime Achievement Award, while seasoned music executive and producer Mon del Rosario will be honored with the Parangal Levi Celerio Lifetime Achievement Award.

​A powerful lineup of the country’s top acts dominates this year’s nominations, including BINI, SB19, TJ Monterde, Cup of Joe, Lola Amour, Ben&Ben, Maki, Dionela, and Juan Karlos.

​The race for Song of the Year features highly popular hits:

  • ​”Dilaw” – Maki
  • ​”Marilag” – Dionela
  • ​”Multo” – Cup of Joe
  • ​”Nami-miss Ko Na” – Lola Amour
  • ​”Palagi” – TJ Monterde
  • ​”Sa Bawat Sandali” – Amiel Sol
  • ​”Salamin Salamin” – BINI

​Meanwhile, vying for Album of the Year are the latest records from James Reid, Lola Amour, Ely Buendia, Arthur Miguel, TJ Monterde, BINI, and Ben&Ben.

​The individual performance categories are equally competitive. Leading the Female Recording Artist of the Year category are KZ Tandingan, Moira dela Torre, Klarisse de Guzman, Jayda Avanzado, Dia Mate, and Eliza Maturan. Contenders for Male Recording Artist of the Year include Maki, TJ Monterde, Juan Karlos, Darren Espanto, Rob Deniel, Ice Seguerra, and Inigo Pascual.

​For Duo/Group Artist of the Year, the nominees are BINI, Ben&Ben, SB19, Cup of Joe, Lola Amour, Sponge Cola, and The Juans.

​The battle for Concert of the Year spotlights massive live spectacles, including SB19’s “Pagtatag! World Tour (Manila),” Gary Valenciano’s “Pure Energy: One More Time,” Regine Velasquez’s “Regine Rocks: The Repeat,” Martin Nievera’s “The King 4-Ever,” Cup of Joe’s “Seatbelts On!,” Juan Karlos: Live, Ogieoke 2: Reimagined, and TJ Monterde’s “Sariling Mundo.”

​The PMPC will also hand out trophies across diverse musical styles—including pop, rock, rap, R&B, acoustic, dance, inspirational, and Christmas music—alongside special categories celebrating emerging talent through the new artist divisions.

​Rounding out the major categories, the nominees for Music Video of the Year are:

  • ​”Kalakal” – SB19 and Gloc-9
  • ​”Salamin Salamin” – BINI
  • ​”Sining” – Dionela
  • ​”Palagi” – TJ Monterde
  • ​”Misteryoso” – Cup of Joe
  • ​”Pulso” – Zack Tabudlo
  • ​”Tiger” – Mayonnaise
  • ​”Di Nakakasawa” – Arthur Nery

​The annual accolade stands as a testament to the creativity of Filipino artists, lyricists, producers, and creators who actively shape the ever-evolving landscape of OPM.
