QUEZON CITY, Philippines — Students at Jose P. Laurel Sr. High School in Barangay Milagrosa are now greeted by enhanced security measures following the launch of an automated facial recognition turnstile system and walk-through metal detectors on Friday, November 6.
The upgraded security infrastructure features an automated turnstile integrated with facial recognition technology and two fixed walk-through metal detectors equipped with digital counters. Designed to screen for prohibited items and deter potential security risks, the metal detectors also help monitor the volume of students entering the campus.
Additionally, the system includes a notification feature that alerts parents in real time when their children arrive at or leave the school grounds.
The security initiative was spearheaded by Quezon City Councilor Christopher “Tope” Liquigan to foster a safer environment for students, teachers, and staff through modern technology.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte and Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Acting District Director Brig. Gen. Christopher Olazo.
School principal Johannsen Yap expressed appreciation for the project, noting that the new security measures will significantly contribute to a safer and more conducive learning atmosphere for the entire school community.
