Quezon City is officially set to host the 67th Palarong Pambansa, marking the return of the nation’s premier student-athlete sporting event to the National Capital Region.
The official transition of hosting duties occurred during the 2026 Palarong Pambansa closing ceremonies, where Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte received the Palaro banner from Agusan del Sur Governor Santiago Cane Jr.
Belmonte expressed immense pride in hosting the prestigious games, highlighting that Quezon City last held the event in 1966, the exact year the historic Amoranto Stadium opened its doors.
“The 2027 Palarong Pambansa is a full circle moment for our city. The last time that QC hosted the Palarong Pambansa was 1966, sixty years ago, coinciding with the inauguration of our Amoranto Stadium,” she said.
A World-Class Experience
The local chief executive assured the public that the city administration is fully dedicated to delivering an exceptional, top-tier experience for all attendees in 2027.
“Quezon City knows what it means to host greatness. And this is the experience that we want every Palaro athlete to carry with them in 2027,” Belmonte said.
She further noted that the city’s central location and high accessibility as a bustling urban hub make it the perfect setting for a nationwide gathering of young sporting talent.
The turnover event was observed by Department of Education officials who joined local leaders in celebrating the transition to the incoming host.
As initial preparations get underway, the Quezon City government has urged its community to rally behind the event and offer a hospitable reception to the thousands of athletes, coaches, and delegates traveling from various regions in May 2027.
The 67th edition represents the games’ first return to Metro Manila since being hosted by Marikina City in 2023.
