The PLDT High Speed Hitters successfully halted a two-match losing streak after repelling the Farm Fresh Foxies, 25-16, 25-22, 23-25, 25-20, in the PVL Invitational Conference on Friday, September 4, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Savi Davison put on a dominant display for the defending champion High Speed Hitters, pouring in a game-high 32 points built on 28 spikes and four blocks, alongside 10 floor digs and 14 receptions.
The victory snapped PLDT’s slump following back-to-back defeats against Nxled and Ho Chi Minh City, elevating their record to 2-2 in a crucial stretch of the tournament.
PLDT head coach Rald Ricafort acknowledged that managing the tight schedule posed a significant hurdle for his squad, particularly on a mental level.
“Mabigat talaga for us dahil wala talagang time para maka-recover lalo mentally. Pero sabi ko naman kanina before mag-start ng game, kung yun lang din yung matututunan namin this conference, eh di i-maximize na namin,” he said.
Davison explained that the key to unlocking their form was zeroing in on their assigned duties and putting the team first.
“I think we just really tuned in on how we can contribute to the team and that’s fulfilling our own role individually and coming ready to do that,” said Davison.
She highlighted that mutual reliance on the floor allowed them to close out the match strong.
“I’m so glad that we were able to kind of trust in each other today and contribute and kind of finish it through. So I’m just glad that we were able to do it together,” she added.
Kianna Dy offered solid support for PLDT by tallying 15 points off 10 attacks and four blocks, while playmaker Kim Fajardo orchestrated the offense with 26 excellent sets.
On the other end, Farm Fresh slipped to a 1-3 win-loss mark, despite double-digit scoring efforts from Ces Molina with 12 points and Royse Tubino with 11.
